Mid way to the Hilltop with Bangalore- Tumkuru highway in background

26th Jan, 2021

Well, to cater my need for extremely required outing (rather a trek) after sitting at home for so long, I came back to Bangalore and started searching for folks who are in the city and join me. Abhishek and Sejal agreed for the plan and we started our journey early morning 3.30 am to the destination.

Tumkur road is a nice highway and we didn’t get any breakfast as such along the highway as expected. Thanks to the snickers and energy drinks poured from a petrol pump store outlet in Bangalore.

The drive was quite smooth but when we reached, we were mesmerized by this view-

Bangalore outskirts on a foggy early morning

We captured the slow motion of sun rise and it was very beautiful experience.

Mid way to the Hill Top

We started our way to top but here comes the twist. We had missed the actual path of the trek and had picked another trail which leaded to nowhere. However, instead of turning back, we kept going and climbing the rocks, sidelining the babul tress everywhere with lot of thorns.

As you can see from the below Strava record, there were these 2 different routes to the hilltop and the one we navigated was less explored. One can easily see the marking around some corners where we reached dead-end and had to circle back to find new route.

Strava record of our trek (the time captured here is only moving time.)

The trek was worth all of the efforts from waking up @ 3 am, driving this way long and climbing to the top.

Once at the top, you can easily point the Shivgange hilltop, which is another famous hill (and a trek too) and pilgrim nearby. There were few devotees and monkeys to welcome at the top.

One thing I must say, we should preserve such hill tops and keep it very clean from the plastic pollution. Non profits should come together and run cleanliness drives (they do nowadays as well!) and strictly ban plastics by adhering to rules and laws.

A small lake or pond at the top and driving our way back to home.

“ Sometimes the best rides are the ones where you start out undecided, convinced you’re going to cave in and turn round but you don’t, you hang on in there, find that rhythm and rediscover that elusive form. That’s the story of our ride.”

I am sure Abhishek and Sejal have a lot to say and comment by reading such a formal experience :D.

Thanks for reading! See you in the next post!
